Just by looking at my last few entries, I haven't really written anything related to the going ons of my life. I guess I've just been swept up by the busyness that has consumed quite a lot of my time.
We're still looking for a place to move to - we didn't get the place in Stanmore cause there were so many applicants *sigh* so instead we've looked to finding a 2 bedroom house in Camperdown and sharing with a random. Whether or not our application gets approved is another thing (lol) Time will tell! but I'm trying to be positive for now. It was advertised for 450 a week, but we put in an application for 480... mmm.
In work related news, I am, as always being smashed. I haven't had much desk time lately as I've been off either learning tasks to train or training people. I got roped into running the induction on Monday.. All well and good, except that I've only been there for 2 months and seen the induction once as a participant - my confidence level isn't the best at the moment. I've taken the materials home to have a look at this weekend, but have been putting it off and distracting myself with other things I'd much rather be doing. Go team procrastination. They're sitting on the coffee table glaring at me.
And tonight, I'm going out to the Arglye in the Rocks with Clinton, Lisa and a few others from Luna Park. Should be alright I'm hoping.. Since I think I may be coming down with a cold.. and it's raining.
And that's me in a nutshell. (Help, I'm in a nutshell!)
Video: Show us a video that makes you want to dance.
Yesteday was a tad bit random. After looking at the place in Stanmore, Clinton wanted to go and do something, so he managed to rangle everyone up and we went bowling in North Strathfield. Aubrey, Clinton and I went to a cafe to have a coffee while we waited for Glen, Craig, Paul and Tom to arrive. Glen and Craig arrived and then Paul called and asked me to pick him up from the train station, which I had gone to do, except by the time I drove out of the parking lot, he was a couple of metres away anyway.
They ended up playing 2 games, whilst Aubrey and I sat around and caught up, since I haven't seen her since before Christmas. I wasn't really paying attention to the games and instead took loser photos with Paul. Once the games were up, we contemplated what to do next and ended up going home.
I was sitting around at home and decided to go to the Fuzzy Street Party for Sydney Festival First Night (since it was always on the cards anyway) so I drove to the city and parked at Tom's carspace on Oxford St. We hung out at his and they all drank and I didn't (Damn you P-plater zero alcohol limit!) The party started at 7, but after the procrastination we rocked up at about 10. IT WAS PACKED. Overall it was a good event, except for the fact that it was so packed. We had some trouble getting from the top of Martin Place down to the bottom where the main stage was. After about an hour, Todd, Steve, Elsy, Tom and I decided to up and go back to Oxford St.
We got back to the apartment, only to have the others arrive about 5 minutes later. We then split up and the previously mentioned group minus Tom went to Stonewall. Elsy bumped into some of her friends so we went in and she had a drink with them before she had to jet off to Bondi to attend another friend's party. Todd, Steve and I stuck it out until about midnight, where I then walked them to the bus stop as I contemplated if I should stay and wait for Kelly and Pru to come out or go home since I was unbeliveably tired. I stayed and waited, then we went down to the Shift. Then up to Palms, where I drew the line and decided to go home.
As expected, I have been smashed at work. But aside from that, the new year has started swimmingly well. It's been a bunch of catch ups, lazing around and the like. Our lease is up fairly soon, so we've been looking for a new place to move to (since we're bored of living in the Hills district), but securing a rental property in high demand areas (like the Inner West) is proving to be a challenge.
I went to go and look at a place with Clinton in Stanmore - a nice 1 bedroom apartment with balcony/sunroom. I think about 10 other applicants showed up. I put in an application and if all goes well then hopefully I get a call to lease the place out. I hate the competition!
I find it really annoying that I have an inability to sleep in. Mainly due to my daily (working) routine of Luke getting up at around 4:30 to get ready for work and then me getting up at about 6:30. Last night I went out bar hopping/clubbing, which really means a drink at the Oxford, Columbian and then Stonewall, then clubbing at ARQ. Overall it was a good night out with the boys. They drank, I watched, we danced. 2am rolled around and I was tired - which is still about 3 hours off our usual clubbing nights back in the day. You'd think I'd have a nice sleep in after all of this - wrong. I got up at 7:30 this morning.
Things were all good and the music was sweet, until there was a sudden shift and it turned into what could be labelled ARQ music - trashy electro beats and unknown vocal house songs. Perfect if your body was pumping with illicit substances and alcohol, torture in any other state. We assume it was all downhill after Rihanna's Please Don't Stop The Music - hah.
Amidst the fake smoke and disco lights and dance beats I stood, observing the crowd - a range of people, with different demographics and reasons to go out. Then during my observations, I got lazy with people watching then thought 'Fuck this, I'm gonna dance' Then continued to dance up a storm with the boys around the pool table.
And that was my New Years Eve Eve.
Christmas was spent with the entire family at my cousin's house. It was typically a Filipino party - big and loud with karaoke and heaps of food. It appears that the surge in family members has subsided for the moment. What was once a time of numerous 3 and 4 year olds has turned into one of 12 and 13 years old. Times goes by too fast.
The weather was untypically Australian. It was cold and cloudy for a Summer's day, which would usually consist of everyone having a whinge that the weather was unbearably hot, sitting outside shooing the flies away.
My Christmas cheer has declined ever so much, to what could now be non existant. It was always about the kids and once i hit high school my present tally hit 0 - but hey, it's about giving , not receiving... right?
So we all sat outside, chatting and laughing. As much as the family bond seems to be slipping away, we always manage to refind it again and appreciate it more whenever we all get together.
